About the Trust

Who we are, where we came from, and the values that guide our work.

Our Story

The Abdur Rahman Memorial Trust was founded in memory of Abdur Rahman, a man known throughout his community for quiet, unconditional generosity. He was not wealthy, but no one who came to his door in need ever left empty-handed.

After his passing, his family and friends established the Trust to continue that legacy in a lasting, organised way. What began as a small local food collection has grown into a registered UK charity delivering four major programmes, supported by dozens of volunteers and hundreds of regular donors.

Our Mission

To relieve poverty and hardship — locally and internationally — through practical, dignified assistance: food for the hungry, clean water for the thirsty, education for orphaned children, and warmth for those facing winter alone.

Our Values

  • Dignity first. We help quietly and respectfully. No one who receives our help is ever made to feel less for it.
  • Complete transparency. We publish where every pound goes. Administration costs are covered by our general fund so that 100% of appeal donations reach those in need.
  • Open to all. We serve people of every faith and background, and we welcome volunteers and donors from every part of the community.
  • Practical impact. We fund things that work: wells, food parcels, school fees, blankets. Real help, delivered directly.

Governance

The Trust is a UK registered charity (No. 1234567) governed by a board of four directors who serve entirely as volunteers. Our annual accounts are filed with the Charity Commission and available on request. Meet the people behind the Trust on our Directors page.
